WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is intended for students, technicians, 3D artists, and creative professionals in the audiovisual field who want to get started in professional post-production—specifically in digital compositing using Nuke.

You’ll learn to work with nodes, integrate CGI into live-action footage, and master essential tools such as rotoscoping, tracking, chroma keying, and multi-layer compositing. It’s ideal for those aiming to join VFX, Motion Graphics, or virtual production teams and looking for a technical, hands-on approach from day one.

COURSE CONTENT

• History and evolution of VFX in film.

• Key branches: matte painting, rotoscoping, chroma key, tracking, match move, CGI.

• Differences between traditional and real-time CGI.

• Interface, node-based workflow, project setup.

• Essential nodes: Read, Write, Shuffle, Shuffle Copy, Merge, Transform, Roto, Roto Paint, Camera Track, Point Track, Grade, ColorCorrect.

• Exercise: removing dolly rails.

• Using Empty Plate, Camera Track, Lens Distortion

• Roto Paint, Denoise, and reintegration

• Techniques for generating mattes from green/blue screen footage: Core matte, Border matte, Fine detail matte.

• Despill and relight techniques.

• Working with render passes.

• Identifying and using layers: Zdepth, Cryptomatte, Velocity, Shadows, Specular, Diffuse, Direct/Indirect Light.

• Applying ZDefocus, bokeh, and image refinement.

• Using the Grade node with color charts.

• Integrating CGI with live footage.

• Final light and color adjustments.

WHAT WILL YOU BE ABLE TO DO?
1. Strong understanding of node-based logic in Nuke.

2. Ability to carry out basic compositing tasks for film and advertising.

3. Fluency with essential tools: rotoscoping, chroma keying, tracking, grading.
