The Observer

ONE CREW MEMBER, ONE SHIP, AND NO VISUAL LIMITS
The Observer starts from a minimal premise: an alien ship, one crew member, and a universe yet to be written. From there, at Acid Drops we decided to expand the concept into a full visual environment, where the narrative is suggested through details, architecture, and camera rhythm. This project began as an internal experimental piece designed to explore the cinematic potential of virtual production environments—with a clear focus on video game cinematics.

Diseño de sci-fi para cine… o para el Game Engine
From visual aesthetics to narrative flow, the entire environment was built in Unreal Engine based on concept art and visual references created by our team. We designed a functional, livable alien set with an atmosphere somewhere between retro-futuristic and minimalist. Every shot was crafted to support a potential playable cinematic, including camera paths, environmental animations, and interactive lighting.

A REAL-TIME CREATIVITY LAB
The Observer is one of our most ambitious internal projects. Through it, we’ve experimented with tools, integration of complex assets, scene logic, and camera behavior—all within a virtual production pipeline optimized for gaming. More than a short film, it’s a visual manifesto of what we can build... even before there’s a script.
